The council invites Shingo Sato, the best pattern maker in the world, to an event.

The Japanese designer, welcomed by the economic vice-president, Efraín Medina, offered an alternative technique to 20 students in the IES Las Indias.

Tenerife – 10/02/2016. The Noble Hall of the Council hosted on Wednesday [10th], the visit of the best pattern maker in the world, Japan’s Shingo Sato, located on the island to conduct an intensive two-day (10 and 11 February) class to 20 students who are currently attending a course of Pattern and Fashion at the Secondary school IES Las Indias (Santa Cruz). This is the opening of this training, and Sato will be teaching his technique ‘Transformation and reconstruction’.

It is the first time that this professional travels to the Canary Islands, and during 16 hours (8 daily), he will address various traditional techniques based mainly on origami, which consists of folding paper without using scissors or glue for sculptures.

Shingo Sato was formed in Japan, and then moved to Paris to finish his studies. For four years he was the assistant designer of Azzedine Alaïa. Then he worked with the Italian designer Nicola Trussardi for two more years. Shingo Sato currently teaches at prestigious universities in fashion design.
