During the meeting, which took place on the island of La Gomera, the possibility of carrying out a program to encourage the fashion sector and the accessories of the island’s artisans, promoting economic activity, was put on the table. In this regard, the socio-economic vice-president of Tenerife stressed that for this, “the Cabildo will provide advice through the Insular Company of Crafts and Tenerife Moda, two programs with extensive experience in their respective sectors.” Efraín Medina recalled that the Island Corporation lends support, also in this matter, to the artisans of Lanzarote.

“The inclusion of new projects and sectors within the Tenerife Moda program, such as Photography and the Young Designers Competition, among others, has allowed the Island Corporation the possibility of transmitting the experience, providing logistical, strategic aspects and actions aimed at improving the quality of its services and products, contributing with this to increase the commercial and business competitiveness “, highlighted Efraín Medina.

For his part, the councilor of the Cabildo of La Gomera, Alfredo Herrera, said after the meeting that “this is an initiative that we want to join hand in hand with the Cabildo de Tenerife, due to its long experience.” He indicated that “the main objective is to introduce La Gomera artisans in this new branch that seeks innovation and the creation of fashion trends within the artisan sector, preserving at all times the traditions of all these trades”.
