Leonardo López Mesa. México.

With the Naughty Gaysha collection, this young 32-year-old designer arrives from the Mexican city of Guanajato to participate as a finalist in the X Young Designers Contest of Tenerife. Bachelor in International Commerce says that fashion comes to him for “love”, since he started out as a hobby in this world since he was a child, making the dresses of his friends’ dolls and, later, dressing his friends.

Damián Rodríguez Noda. Tenerife.

At 26, this young natural designer from Santa Cruz de Tenerife presents his Juliet collection. Formed in Styling and Clothing at the School of Art and Superior Fernando Estévez, this is not the first time that he has participated in a contest of new promises, since last year he was the first finalist in Isla Bonita Love Festival of La Palma. Now, motivated to participate in his native island, he presents a proposal inspired by the feminine character of Juliet by William Shakespeare. Languid lines and fabrics, pastel colors and semi-nude silhouettes create ethereal, feminine and romantic dresses.

Francisco Medina Naya. Tenerife

Trained in Superior Artistic Teachings of Fashion Design, Ephemeral Architecture and pattern making and confection, he affirms that his passion for fashion came after discovering designers such as Alexander McQueen, one of his greatest references. His current proposal emulates textures of the surroundings or drawings of the aforementioned photographer in classic pattern garments but with contemporary touches, predominating oversize silhouettes and volumetry. The neutral tones, broken with garnets and prints, mark prototypes that evolve towards that search for black, using fabrics such as satin, crepe, wool or twill, as well as quilted and starched fabrics.

Eder Aurre Ferreira. País Vasco.

Sokotra gives name to the collection with which the Basque designer, 24 years old and resident in Bilbao, competes in the X Young Designers contest of Tenerife. With an extensive training background that includes expert in pattern design and fashion, a master’s degree in fashion at the University of the Basque Country and several specialized courses at the prestigious Central San Martins in London, he has also worked in the sector linked to several fashion companies. A passion that he assures comes from his mother, a figure that instilled in him his love for fabrics and design. It is not the first time that he presents himself to such a contest in order to make his work known, a fact that has led him to attend the one in Tenerife motivated by the high level of this contest.

Imbela Lilié Martín Meza. Madrid.

Born in Madrid, at age 26 she attends the event to present her collection entitled Por una cabeza, which is inspired by Carlos Gardel’s tango to tell a story of passion in horse racing. She assures that it is the first time that she attends an event of this kind, despite having studied at the Superior Center for Fashion Design in Madrid. Passionate about everything that is creative and innovating, she looks for the opportunity to show her work before the public and on a great catwalk. Her proposal is composed of rigid cuts, sharp but at the same time continuing the female silhouette, using strong fabrics for it as upholstery that fuses with gauze and organza to give movement and lightness to the garments. As for the chromatic palette, Imbela bets on reds, burgundies, greens, blacks and grays.

Esteban Morales Varón. Madrid.

Bachelor in Graphic Design, fashion entered his life in the middle of the college studies, combining both formations and currently dedicating himself to his two passions. He was born in Andalucía (Colombia) 26 years ago, although he currently lives in Madrid and states that it is the second time he participates in the Young Designers contest of Tenerife, since last year he chose the contest although he did not manage to be among the finalists. In this edition his dream has been fulfilled thanks to his Avant-Garde performance collection, which translates as Avant-garde performance. Inspired by art, especially in cubism and the geometric and minimalist paintings of Jean Hélion, his proposal is designed for autumn-winter.
