Tenerife Moda to participate in the European Economic Forum in Brussels with Lucia de Su

The European Commission in Brussels held this past June 5 the Brussels Economic Forum 2018. This international meeting in which economic leaders, academics, experts in civil society and entrepreneurs participate is organized to facilitate the dialogue on the main economic issues such as European and international market policies. In this edition, the Forum emphasized the future of economic policy in the digital era.

In this context, the designer Lucia de Suñer, who belongs to the textile promotion program of Tenerife Moda del Cabildo with her firm Lucia de Su, has been invited by the organization for her great involvement in gender equality, especially with women within the economy and new ways of working through new technologies.

Efraín Medina, social-economic vice-president of the Cabildo, emphasizes that “these international forums in which Tenerife Moda is present are steps for the internationalization of the designers and entrepreneurs of Tenerife, Lucia de Su is a company that has been developing a fundamental work not only for its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility in companies “but also an example of how to make fashion a vehicle of solidarity and integration with other cultures”.

Lucia de Suñer stands out for incorporating values of solidarity and commitment with African ancestral cultures into her work, but above all it focuses on the African woman and her relationship with the community through her clothes and the designs of her fabrics.

Not in vain, UNESCO awarded her in 2011, a distinction for his contribution to the protection of the intangible heritage of ancient civilizations, in this particular case to the protection of culture in Kenya.
