Marco & Maria’s new shop offers products from the group of artisans of Tenerife Moda

The selected firms are Anastasia, Joyas & Design Claudia Kurzweil, Trama Textil, Maru and Juan Gil.

Tenerife- 11/12/2014. The brand M & M from Tenerife Moda of the Cabildo has launched an initiative in its store in Santa Cruz, located on Pérez Galdós street, that offers the possibility of acquiring craft pieces.
These pieces, which belong to a selection of local artisans of the Tenerife Moda collective, have been mainly made for this location and, according to the designers Marco & María, are a perfect complement to wedding and party dresses, generating synergies and opportunities for this group.

The Island Councillor for Economic Development, Trade and Employment, Efraín Medina, stated at a press conference the importance of uniting the craftsmen sector with the fashion industry “because they all go in the same direction.” Medina has indicated that this is an experimental model “that might also be implemented in other stores.”

Meanwhile, María Díaz announced that some of the craftsmen involved in this project “will create exclusive pieces for the store.”

Among the items that customers can acquire from now on one can find delicate shawls woven on traditional looms; pins, and enameled metal pendants; accessories made from recycled materials and / or paper and traditional Canarian rings. The Firms that will show their designs are: Anastasia, Joyas & Design Claudia Kurzweil, Trama Textil, Maru and Juan Gil.

The designers Marco Marrero and Maria Diaz began their career in 1990 with the creation of a design and manufacturing workshop in Puerto de la Cruz, Tenerife, and in 1998 the firm M & M joined the collective Tenerife Moda, a platform to promote the Tenerife’s fashion sector, allowing them to make their first foray into national catwalks.

Only one year after its inclusion in the Collective, M & M displayed their designs at Cibeles, and in 2000 they broke boundaries presenting his bridal collection at the Paris Fair. In the last edition of the Gaudí Novias show, within the Barcelona Bridal Week, the designers were able to present their latest collection 2015 and, most recently in September, open their own first point of sale in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
