The Cabildo and CEOE Tenerife take the first steps for the creation of a fashion cluster on the Island

The objective is to generate more employment opportunities and improve the competitive position and access to new markets

Tenerife– 15/05/2018. The Cabildo and CEOE Tenerife had yesterday [Monday 14] the first contact with companies to promote the constitution of the fashion cluster on the Island, whose objective will be to support and revitalize this sector. Representatives of Tenerife Moda and Emprendemoda participated in this meeting, a Cabildo platform that promotes designers who begin their professional careers.

The socioeconomic vice-president of the Insular Corporation, Efraín Medina, explained that this cluster aims to make visible and value a sector such as the textile industry that, in Tenerife, has been consolidated thanks to firms that have managed to market their products outside the Island. In addition, a push is being given to new talents so that they can make their way. “We want to generate employment opportunities,” said the vice president, who recalled actions such as the Young Designers Competition of Tenerife that, in ten years, has served as a support to new talents.

For the general secretary of CEOE Tenerife, Eduardo Bezares, it is important to encourage cooperation and the link between companies in several steps of the value chain (textile, fashion, photography, technology, packaging, university, etc.) because it is what will allow to improve the competitive position and access to new markets.
